Every day, on my way to lunch in Central Park, I pass Ray Dawson. He’s always sitting there - beside the subway station at 60th Street East and 5th Avenue - holding a long cigar in between his ring-covered fingers, dressed like a boss (which, actually, he already is). One day, I finally found the courage to approach him to have a chat… oh, the stories he had.
Ray is always waiting for the right “soul” to make a connection, as he meditates during one hour in the middle of the screams, horns and chaos of Manhattan.
This man is nothing less than a “construction specialist” and a safety engineer overseeing the jobsite at the new David Geffen building in midtown. But if you look closer, you’ll see he’s a fashion and jewelry designer who also used to run a cigar company years ago. You should say hi.
Here he is, in all his glory.
Thank you, Ray for your time and generosity!
